North Star Spirits' The Speyside Connection 10 Year Old brings together three remarkable components:

• 35-year-old Macallan matured in a sherry hogshead
• 20-year-old Tamdhu matured in a sherry butt
• 10-year-old Secret Speyside matured in a sherry hogshead

The headline is undoubtedly that 35-year-old Macallan, bringing more than three decades of maturation to a whisky carrying a 10-year age statement. Combined with the younger Macallan and richly sherried Tamdhu, it creates a layered, full-bodied Speyside blended malt.

Bottled by independent Scottish bottler North Star Spirits at a robust 52% ABV, with no added colouring, this is a fascinating example of how carefully selected parcels of mature whisky can create something far greater than the age statement might suggest.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruits, honeyed toffee and vanilla, with warming cinnamon, roasted nuts and rich sherry.

Palate: Full-bodied and silky, with sherried fruits, creamy caramel, orange zest and warming spice.

Finish: Long and lingering, with dried fruit, toffee, seasoned oak and a spicy sherry-led finish.
