A very special Australian exclusive from Angus McRaild and Decadent Drinks, bottled to celebrate Angus's first visit Down Under in November 2026.

Following the sold-out success of the Old Islay Bowmore 21 Year Old earlier this year, Angus decided Australia deserved its very own single cask Bowmore. Working closely with The Whisky List, we gave Angus a fairly simple brief: a great distillery, at least 20 years old, cask strength and, most importantly, absolutely delicious whisky. No marketing fluff, no gimmicks, just exceptional single malt Scotch.

And Angus delivered with a stunning 2004 vintage Bowmore, aged 22 years and bottled at natural cask strength of 57.2% ABV.

Drawn from the same parcel of sister casks as the hugely popular Old Islay Bowmore 21YO, this release has been matured in a combination of a second-fill bourbon hogshead and first-fill sherry barrique.

The 2004 vintage is considered one of Bowmore's most sought-after modern vintages, particularly among enthusiasts who appreciate the distillery's famously exotic, tropical fruit character. No soap here, just an abundance of pineapple, grapefruit, mango, coastal minerality and gentle peat smoke.

Unlike the more heavily peated Islay malts, mature Bowmore often develops a beautifully restrained smokiness, allowing its tropical fruits, honeyed sweetness and elegant coastal character to shine. The smoke adds another layer of complexity rather than dominating the experience.

And then there's the label! Angus has clearly been doing his homework on Australia's rather notorious native wildlife ahead of his first trip to our shores. The result is a wonderfully entertaining label created especially for this Australian release.

Angus McRaild's Tasting Notes

Nose: Soft woodsmoke, sandalwood and crystallised exotic fruit notes. A very fragrant and elegant mix of dry peat, preserved lemons and lovely coastal, gently briny combinations. Water elevates the fruits to the foreground and makes everything more luscious.

Palate: A gentle wood spice followed by soft peat and abundant green and exotic fruit qualities. Pineapple, grapefruit, dried mango and general fruit salad juiciness. Water brings a little mineral character and balances the fruity notes with more coastal aspects.

Finish: Long, peaty, fruity and with some lovely honeyed and slightly waxy tones.
